Deadline altered for LA Smartport

21 April 2017 The Port of Los Angeles has amended the response date for the request for information process for the Smartport wireless network, as mayor reveals Budget.

Responses are now due by 3pm on April 28.

The Harbor Department is soliciting information from firms with solutions to support the strategic direction of the port becoming a “digitized, fully-connected Smartport”, ahead of a future request for proposals (RFP).

Last week, the city’s Harbor Department confirmed it is open to a design-build-finance-operate-maintain (DBFOM) or design-build-finance (DBF) model for the project.

Meanwhile, Mayor Eric Garcetti has used his State of the City Address to unveil his proposed 2017-18 Budget with affordable housing and transportation key priorities. Last November, voters approved Measure M and Proposition HHH to increase spending in these sectors.

Funding has been continued for the Downtown Los Angeles Streetcar Project.

The city’s proprietary departments (the Port of Los Angeles, Los Angeles World Airports, and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power) finalize their budgets outside the city’s official process but major capital investments for each department were noted in the budget summary document.

The P3 landscape in Los Angeles will be discussed with key public representatives at the P3 Hub West conference in May. For more information, click here.
