Aecom launches federal unit

20 April 2017 Engineering giant Aecom has established a US federal business unit within its construction services business group.

The newly created business will look at a broad spectrum of federal work for clients such as the military, General Services Administration (GSA) and Department of State.

Vern Kuehn has joined the company from Kiewit as executive vice president and general manager of the new unit, based in Arlington, Virginia.

Kuehn will focus on providing design-build services across federal market sectors, specifically looking at vertical building opportunities.

Dan McQuade, group president of construction services, said: “I am thrilled to welcome Vern, who will ensure we better serve our government clients through an unparalleled integrated delivery approach.”

Aecom’s rival WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff recently announced the hire of Denise Turner Roth, former administrator of the GSA, to assist public and private sector clients with buildings, infrastructure and energy projects.

Meanwhile, an Aecom-led consortium recently reached financial close on the McLoughlin Point Wastewater Treatment Plant P3 in British Columbia.
