Shortlist for Kipling Bus Terminal project

4 April 2017 Three teams have been shortlisted by Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx for the Kipling Bus Terminal project.

The agencies have selected the following three teams to design, build and finance the station along the Milton Corridor in the City of Toronto:

Bird/Kiewit JV

  • Developer and constructor: Bird Design-Build Construction and Kiewit 
  • Designer: Stantec
  • Financial Advisor: Kiewit Development and Bird Capital  

EllisDon Infrastructure Transit

  • Developer: EllisDon Capital 
  • Constructor: EllisDon Design-Build 
  • Designer: Strasman Architects, NAK Design Strategies and WSP Canada 
  • Financial Advisor: EllisDon Capital

Kipling Infrastructure Partnership

  • Developer: Buttcon and OHL Canada
  • Constructor: Buttcon, OHL Canada and Grascan Construction 
  • Designer: Reinders + Rieder 
  • Financial Advisor: Stonebridge Financial Corporation

Major works include a new bus terminal building for MiWay and GO Transit; renovations to the existing Kipling GO station building and existing TTC pedestrian pick-up and drop off building; a new pedestrian underground tunnel from the new bus terminal to the existing TTC pedestrian pick-up and drop off building and to the new entrance/ancillary building; the construction of a new extension of Acorn Ave south of Dundas Street West with vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian accesses, including a new signalized intersection.  

A successful bidder is expected to be announced in fall 2017.

The shortlisted teams have been issued with requests for proposals by the agencies.

IO and Metrolinx issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) towards the end of last year.
